Sophie Søs Meyer

1991– · Danish

Sophie Søs Meyer is a young Danish composer, introduced by the Concertgebouw Orchestra as one of the up-and-coming voices in Scandinavian new music. Her music tends to grow out of vivid extramusical images, and Fleur de verre, the piece heard here, is a case in point: it was inspired by the skeleton flower, an Asian plant whose petals turn transparent in the rain, which the orchestra describes as ‘transparent, fragile and proud.’
