Soloist, Violin

Guy Braunstein

Israeli · 1971

Guy Braunstein, born in Tel Aviv in 1971, is a violinist, conductor and composer of wide-ranging gifts. Trained in Israel and the United States (his teachers included Glenn Dicterow and Pinchas Zukerman), he was appointed concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2000, remarkably elected unanimously by the players although he had never played in an orchestra before. He held the position until 2013, leaving to concentrate on his solo, chamber and conducting careers. A musician of restless creativity, he is also increasingly active as an arranger and composer, most strikingly in his Abbey Road Concerto, his own violin-concerto reimagining of the Beatles’ album, which he performs here.
