French

Jean-Sébastien Bou is a French baritone. He studied with the soprano Mady Mesplé and at the Paris Conservatoire, and quickly made his name in the French repertoire, above all as Debussy’s Pelléas, a role he first sang in 2000 and has performed on many stages since. His other parts range from Valentin in Faust and Escamillo in Carmen to Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Rossini’s Figaro, and he is a committed performer of new music, having taken part in operas by Pascal Dusapin, Philippe Boesmans and Thierry Escaich, including the title role of Escaich’s Claude. He has appeared at the Opéra-Comique, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Opéra national du Rhin and the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
