Hill Auditorium
Hill Auditorium stands on the central campus of the University of Michigan and is one of the largest concert halls in the region, with about 3,500 seats. It is named after Arthur Hill, a regent of the university, who left $200,000 in his will to build it. Albert Kahn, the Detroit architect, designed the hall, and it opened in 1913. From the start it was praised for its acoustics. A renovation between 2002 and 2004 restored the interior and modernised the building. The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra performs there, and the University Musical Society uses it for visiting orchestras; the London Symphony Orchestra plays there on tour.
