Palau de la Música de València
Valencia’s concert hall opened on 25 April 1987 in the gardens of the old bed of the river Turia. It was designed by José María García de Paredes, the architect of the concert halls in Granada and Madrid. The main auditorium, the Sala Iturbi, seats about 1,780, and there is a smaller chamber hall alongside it. In the early 2000s the building was extended with a largely underground annexe of rehearsal rooms by Eduardo de Miguel. The Palau is the home of the Orquestra de València, the city’s orchestra, and its subscription series brings in visiting orchestras; the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra plays there on tour.
