Ziggo Dome
The Ziggo Dome is the largest indoor concert venue in the Netherlands, an arena for about 17,000 people on the ArenA Boulevard in Amsterdam Southeast, next to the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Benthem Crouwel Architects designed it, and it opened in 2012. Despite the name there is no dome: the building is a black square box whose façade is covered in LEDs, so the whole exterior can show video. It was designed first for amplified music, with acoustic material in the walls and ceiling to keep the reverberation short, but it can be adapted for sport. Pop and rock tours fill most of its calendar. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra brings its “Uniquely Great” series of large-scale concerts here, for audiences of some 12,500 a night.
