Conductor

Robert Treviño

American · 1984

Robert Treviño, born in 1984, is a fast-rising American conductor. Mexican-American and raised in the Fort Worth area of Texas, he studied the bassoon and then conducting, and has built an international career marked by adventurous programming and a strong commitment to both the Romantic repertoire and new music. He served as music director of the Basque National Orchestra in Spain and appears as a guest with leading orchestras across Europe and America. His combination of Romantic sweep and an advocate’s enthusiasm for contemporary scores suits this programme, which frames a recent violin concerto with the mysticism of Messiaen and the lush Romanticism of Rachmaninoff.
